Susan Hoekstra

Susan Hoekstra is a Senior Master Teacher, receiving her
certification from ANG. She is the designer of the 2016 ANG
SOTM, Pineapple Leaves. At ANG Seminars she has taught
Maple Leaves and American Folk Sampler in New Orleans;
Hark, The Herald Angel and A Thread for All Seasons in Myrtle
Beach; A Berlin Work Cardinal in Chicago; Ben's Kites in
Philadelphia; and Dove in The Window in San Antonio. Her
strong belief in color theory greatly influences her way of
teaching and encourages her students to be creative in the
stitching process. Her designs focus on quilt geometrics,
animals and primitives.

Meet the Teachers (H-R)

Suzanne Howren

Suzanne, with her late partner Beth Robertson, is the coauthor of five needlework books, Stitches for Effect, More
Stitches for Effect, Even More Stitches for Effect, Stitches
to Go, and New Twists on Needlework Embellishment.
Suzanne and Beth were awarded the ANG Literary
Award in 1998. Suzanne has taught at the ANG Seminar,
Callaway Gardens School of Needle Arts, for local guilds,
in retail shops and for TNNA. She now teaches with The
Embellishment Squad.

Catherine Jordan 

Catherine holds Master Craftsman (MC) certifications in
the Counted Thread, Crewel, Color, and Design programs
from EGA. She is currently chair of the EGA MC Design
program, MC Coordinator, and a juried member of EGA's
artist's group, Fiber Forum. Catherine is a five-time
recipient of Woodlawn's Frank Lloyd Wright award for
best original design and a Certified Zentangle® teacher.
Catherine teaches at local needlework chapters and
regional, national, and international seminars. Her work

Margaret Kinsey

Margaret is an EGA Certified Teacher in Silk and Metal Thread
Techniques. She is certified to teach Japanese Traditional
Embroidery. She is the designated US teacher for the
Kunimitsu Rozashi Studio and studies with Fumiko Ozaki.
She has taught at all levels for EGA, for ANG national and
chapters, and EAC Conference and chapters. She was the
2012 keynote speaker, taught at the New Zealand Embroidery
Guild Conference in Christchurch, New Zealand, and also
touring, teaching, and lecturing in venues in New Zealand. She
is chairing the EGA 2018 International Embroidery Conference.
She lives in Deltona, Florida.

Tony Minieri

In Tony's world, color is everywhere, it takes on many
different forms and works its way into all that he does. As
an internationally-known needlepoint teacher with Level I
Certification from NAN, Tony instructs for ANG, EGA, TNNA,
needlepoint shops, guilds and private groups. His work
encompasses teaching and designing, and he is in much
demand for creating stitch and thread guides for teaching

his project classes. It's a treat to learn from Tony Minieri as he
shares, entertains, teaches, and supports your efforts to be a
better stitcher.

Victoria Nessel

In 2011, Victoria graduated from the NAN Teacher
Certification program in Canvas Embroidery. Her art career
began at age eight when she took summer classes at The
Detroit Institute and Detroit's Society of Arts and Crafts. In
the last year in certification training, her advanced design
Yei-bi-chei was inducted into NAN's permanent collection.
Victoria is a member of ANG, EGA, and NAN, and has won
multiple awards at ANG's and NAN's annual events. She
currently is a resident of Winslow, Arizona where she has
stood on the corner.

Kathy Rees

Kathy learned to cross stitch at 14 and has never stopped
using a needle. After earning a business degree and working
in the corporate world, she began managing her family's
needlework shop, teaching classes, designing counted
canvas, and eventually committing herself to designing
and teaching. She enjoys working with color and multiple
overdyed threads. Kathy has taught at EGA chapters, EGA
regional and national Seminars, ANG Seminar, TNNA's
wholesale trade shows, and lectures and teaches at shops
and guilds throughout the US and online. Her designs
have won numerous ribbons and awards and she has been
published in Needlepoint Now.

Jeanette Rees

Jeanette is a self-taught needleworker who started out
owning a Bernina Sewing Center, and then a needlework
shop for 13 years. She teaches workshops and classes
at national and regional seminars, guild chapters, and
retreats. She is a member of ANG, EGA, TNNA, NETA, and
several local chapters. Jeanette enjoys all parts of the
process, sharing her knowledge with others, and loves all
forms of needlework. She has published designs in both
the cross stitch and canvas arena. In March 2016, she was
featured in the EGA's Needle Arts magazine as one of the
Designers Across America and is an award-winning needle
arts designer.

Jennifer Riefenberg

Jennifer loves teaching others, both the skills and the pure
love and joys of art and creativity. She holds Teacher and
Judge certifications through NAN. Jennifer is the Assistant
Director of Judging for NAN. Jennifer teaches her designs
locally, regionally, and nationally and has won numerous
awards for her works. Jennifer is the photographer for NAN
and EGA Seminars. She is also an artist, painting primarily
in oils, and a winner of national and regional awards. She
is a fourth-generation Colorado native and has degrees in
engineering and mathematics.
