The Commitment to Training Begins Here

AEA Plays Host to Upcoming Training Sessions
The Aircraft Electronics Association is offering three educational courses during the first quarter of 2012 at the Dan Derby Center for Professional Development at its international headquarters in Lee’s Summit, Mo. The year begins with the Basic Wiring & Avionics Installation course, Jan. 4-6. The course is for currently employed repair station personnel, A&P mechanics and others interested in improving or acquiring the skills necessary to perform avionics installations in general aviation aircraft. This three-day seminar employs in-depth theory and handson lab exercises to immerse the attendee in the best practices used to plan, manage and install a general avionics panel. It is FAA-accepted for 26 hours toward IA renewal training and is taught by Mickey Shriver with Avionics Training Solutions. The hands-on installation lab includes: Garmin GNS 530, GMA 340, MD200-206CDI and Sandel SN3500. On Feb. 10, the Pitot Static & Transponder Certification Training takes place, presented by Don Dominguez of Radioman Avionics. Attendees will learn the proper methods for conducting pitot/static and transponder certification testing. This fullday course offers hands-on training, including a regulatory review and an explanation of the proper administrative procedures for completing these critical certifications. It also includes a transponder tune-up course. The contents can be easily incorporated into approved training programs for certified repair stations. Finally, the Certified Repair Station Training Course takes place March 5-9. This week-long course is divided into training modules designed for start-up repair stations, as well as mature operations looking to improve their understanding of the regulations, performing internal audits and editing repair station manuals. The modules will be presented by Ric Peri, AEA vice president of government and industry affairs. The course is for current quality managers, technicians, mechanics and repairmen who are involved in the management of a repair station, as well as individuals looking to establish a 14 CFR Part 145 repair station.
