AEA Scholarship Applications Available Online
The AEA Educational Foundation will award scholarships for the 2013-14 school year to students pursuing a career in avionics or aircraft maintenance, as well as students from AEA member companies. The foundation was created in 1990 to enhance, AEA Educational promote and secure the future of aviation and the AEA Foundation by furthering the education of students, technicians, members of the AEA and others as determined by aviation industry needs. Since its inception, the AEA scholarship program has awarded more than $1 million in scholarships. Numerous awards are available, ranging from $1,000 to more than $35,000 each. Requests for complete scholarship packages are available online after Oct. 1, 2012, at www. aea.net/scholarship. The deadline for returning applications is Feb. 15, 2013. Scholarships will be awarded during the 56th annual AEA International Convention & Trade Show, which takes place March 25-28, 2013, in Las Vegas, Nev. Aircraft Certification Process Review and Reform ARC Issues Report to FAA Administrator
Earlier this year, the FAA administrator chartered the Aircraft Certification Process Review and Reform Aviation Rulemaking Committee in response to the congressional mandate contained in Section 312 of the Federal Aviation Administration Modernization and Reform Act of 2012 (Public Law 112-95). The Aircraft Electronics Association participated as a member of the ARC. Section 312 of the Federal Aviation Administration Modernization and Reform Act of 2012 required the FAA administrator, in consultation with the aviation industry, to conduct an assessment of the aircraft certification and approval process. This final report responds to the administrator’s charter to conduct an assessment of the certification and approval process and to make recommendations to streamline and re-engineer the aircraft certification process.
