Flightstar Offers Full Gamut of Aviation Services

ome 140 miles south of Chicago, Flightstar helps keep owner-operators, businesses, regional airlines and the University of Illinois flying. Located at the University of Illinois Willard Airport, a regional airport operated by the school since the 1940s, Flightstar provides aviation services to customers in the ChampaignUrbana metropolitan area. “Flightstar began life about 35 years ago as a small flight training and charter operation with three employees,” said Bill Giannetti, founder, CEO and chief pilot. “We had four airplanes and were willing to work and fly 24/7. We gradually grew the business by providing great service and always keeping our promises to our customers.” Today, Flightstar employs a staff of more than 120 and offers a multitude of services, including aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul, avionics sales and

service, and airframe modification and repair along with full FBO services. The company also provides Part 135 charter, as well as aircraft sales, acquisition and management services. At more than 100,000 square feet, its facilities encompass nearly half the airport with 68,000 square feet dedicated to maintenance alone. Every night, Flightstar’s technicians maintain and repair four Embraer 135 and 145 jet aircraft, helping to keep American Eagle’s eight regional airline flights a day to Chicago O’Hare and Dallas-Fort Worth operating smoothly. The team handles everything from cleaning to service checks, replacing windshields to engine maintenance. “We have been doing this for American Eagle for more than 20 years, starting with Shorts 360 aircraft, moving to the ATR 42/72 and now on Embraer 135/145 jets,” Giannetti said. “Our airport has had as many as six airlines
