ASPEN AVIONICS, manufacturer of the Evolution Flight Display and Connected Panel, and AVIDYNE CORP., a provider of integrated flight deck and safety systems, announced Avidyne has received FAA STC approval for installation of the Avidyne DFC90 digital autopilot into Cessna 182-series aircraft when interfaced with Aspen’s Evolution 1000 Pro PFD. The approval includes 16 models of the Cessna 182 Skylane series, all of which are included on Aspen’s approved model list. The Evolution Integration Kit for the DFC90 kit, similar to other Aspen upgrades, is a software upgrade to the Evolution Pro PFD. The kit can be purchased via any Aspen authorized dealer. The Evolution Integration Kit for the DFC90 enables the PFD to provide precision attitude inputs to the autopilot from its reliable, solidstate air data and attitude heading reference sensor, as well as display mode annunciations and alerts right on the PFD. The unit sends and receives data with integrated compression and acceleration services that facilitates faster data throughput and greater system flexibility. The unit is compact and fully portable, allowing travelers the ability to take the router with them to their hotel or into meetings for continued full service Internet and office-on-the-move connectivity during business travel. Dubbed the office-on the-move 100 and 200 (OOM-100 and OOM-200), the units are fully compatible with previously installed Satcom systems. According to the company, the units require minimal installation work. They are customized to meet software specific requirements of each owner, based on engineering discussions with the owner/operator. This feature permits corporations to integrate their own internal security software, thus avoiding the exposure to any security weaknesses that may exist in publicly available services. Installation does not require an STC and permits customers to service and upgrade their Wi-Fi component. The difference between the OOM-

100 and OOM-200 is the OOM-200 incorporates VoIP Codec capability for most smartphones. Both units incorporate the following functions: • Mobile Wi-Fi hot spot. • The Basic Router module functionality. • The acceleration module; this solution applies to certain types of traffic and can be combined with each other for improved performances and controlling costs. With the acceleration module, customers may expect an increase of 200 to 300 percent Internet performance.
