AEA Offers Certified Repair Station Training Course, March 5-9
The Aircraft Electronics Association plays host to a Certified Repair Station Training Course, March 5-9, at the Dan Derby Center for Professional Development in Lee’s Summit, Mo. This week-long course is divided into training modules designed for start-up repair stations, as well as mature operations looking to improve their understanding of the regulations, performing internal audits and editing repair station manuals. U.S. Airport and Airway Trust Fund Update
Created by the Airport and Airway Revenue Act of 1970, the Airport and Airway Trust Fund provides funding for capital improvements to the U.S. airport and airways system. Its revenues are derived from aviation-related excise taxes on passengers, cargo and fuel, providing the majority of funding for the Federal Aviation Administration. The Aircraft Electronics Association, along with nearly all general aviation associations and groups, strongly support the AATF to fund the nation’s aviation system. An alternative method proposed by the airlines and some industry groups is funded through a user-fee scheme. The AEA opposes this method. Current Status At the beginning of the 2011 fiscal year, the Trust Fund had a cash balance of $9.4 billion. The Treasury Department’s Bureau of the Public Debt prepares monthly income statements on Trust Fund revenues; these statements reflect monthly allocations of estimated excise tax payments to the Trust Fund. New Avionics Product Introductions Garner More Coverage
One of the most popular sessions each year at the AEA International Convention & Trade Show is the New Product Introductions. This must-see event continues to draw the attention of the entire general aviation community, as manufacturers unveil the new products and services that repair stations will be suggesting and selling to customers throughout 2012 and beyond. For the third consecutive year, the Aero-News Network will be live-stream2012 ing the New Product Introductions around the world on the Internet. This Aircraft Electronics Association year’s production will be in high-definition quality for the first time. Each NPI presentation will be syndicated to dozens of popular E-media and aviation sites, such as YouTube, for even greater exposure. ANN will produce live programming throughout the week and conduct high-tech “live interviews” on the AEA Exhibit Hall floor. The live streaming will be available online at www.aea.net and www.aero-news.net. In addition, the AEA will host a media luncheon for members of the press, April 4, sponsored by Sporty’s and Aspen Avionics. AEA members are encouraged to bring press releases to the press headquarters for distribution. q
