Mid-Continent Instruments has been a longstanding member of the Aircraft Electronics Association since 1981. John Winter, Todd Winter and Matt Fowle, western regional director, have served on the AEA board of directors at various intervals. John Winter was named the AEA Member of the Year in 1995. Mid-Continent Instruments was named the AEA Associate Member of the Year in 2001, and John received the 2006 Lifetime Achievement Award for his many contributions to the avionics industry throughout the years. Fowle was named the 2007 AEA Member of the Year. In addition, Mid-Continent Instruments has earned numerous AEA Avionics Training Excellence awards.

key to the company’s success. MidContinent Instruments is dedicated to providing superior quality and safety at affordable prices. The company specializes in supporting avionics shops that focus on providing service and value to their customers. When Mid-Continent was purchased by John Winter in 1980, the company embraced a commitment to engineering, quality and service that continues to this day. With the 1991 addition of a facility in Van Nuys, Calif., and the new direction provided by Todd Winter, president and CEO, the company expanded its service capabilities, innovative product lines and international reach. Today, MidContinent Instruments has the expertise to overhaul nearly 6,000 different products, including gyro, altimeter, HSI and autopilot system overhauls — both the Kansas and California facilities are FAA/EASA-authorized repair stations.

Guided by vision and a dedication to the development of the world’s premier line of tactical communications, specifically in the world of airborne sonobuoy receiver technology, Flightline Systems (then EDMAC Associates) was founded as a spinoff of the General Dynamics Corp. in 1970. Flightline Systems was later acquired by Ultra Electronics, a UK-based leader in military and aerospace technologies, in 1997. During the last 40 years, Flightline Systems has grown its aircraft instru-

mentation portfolio through the acquisition of several companies, such as Aero Mechanism, Horizon Aerospace and most recently, Xerion Avionix, in 2009. The most recent expansion has

provided Flightline Systems the platform to become an emerging leader in glass-panel engine-management systems for piston- and turbine-engine OEM and retrofit markets. Throughout Flightline’s history, attention to customer needs and the capability to develop entry-level aviation products has proven successful. Products ranging from fuel-management systems for the Sikorsky Blackhawk, to hydraulic brake monitoring for the Boeing 737, and most recently the advancement of the AuRACLE primary-engine management suite into the piston- and turbine-engine markets, Flightline specializes in the development of advanced technology for commercial, business aviation and general aviation markets. As an AEA member, Flightline has promoted the sourcing of its AuRACLE systems through an approved dealer network only, rather than a common off-the-shelf product available through online and catalog retailers. This support of the dealer network, composed primarily of AEA members, has proven Flightline’s dedication to providing world class customer and dealer support and training, before, during and after the sale. More than 120 Flightline employees continue to be the proven asset to Flightline’s success. Based in western New York and operating out of a 45,000-square-foot facility, the company will continue to advance the current and future aviation product lines for many years to come. The support of the AEA, dealers and past and future customers are the keys to the global success of the expanding Flightline Systems aircraft instrument product lines. Ultra Electronics Flightline Systems has been an active member of the AEA since August 2009. q
