Today’s Products Today, 80 percent of Mikrotechna Praha’s business comes from the production of aircraft navigation instruments with design and manufacturing taking place at the company’s 3,000-square-meter facility in Modřany. Mikrotechna’s primary customers are aircraft manufacturers, such as Grob Aircraft, Tecnam, Vulcan Air, Aircraft Industries, Aero Vodochody, Evektor, Flight Design, Aquila Aviation by Excellence, PZL Poland and others. “The second segment of our production program is cooperated manufacturing of precision parts and details implemented in high-end equipment for GA and fine mechanic products,” Milev explained. “In
the past, we have been a part of the supplier chain for Thales and Moog. Now, we are continuing in our cooperation with FEI Electron Optics International B.V., which specializes in nanotechnology microscope production. We are the preferred supplier for GE Aviation Systems Ltd., Wolverhampton, UK, but at the present moment we don’t have any open contract with them.” Many of the company’s skilled technicians have more than 30 years experience with Mikrotechna’s products. “Basically they spent their professional career here,” Milev said. “They are retired but still work for Mikrotechna’s design department. Between their extensive experience and our long-term, proven design and know-
how, we are able to manufacture exactly what our customers want and need, including non-standard products.” As for the future of this nearly 100-year-old company, Milev feels confident. “The company’s future looks good,” he said. “We were keeping stable income during the last two years and did not reduce the staff number. We also added new customers that have run new projects and approved us as main supplier of analogue-type instruments. The Russian market also has grown with new orders from our aircraft manufacturing partners in the Czech Republic or directly with requests in our company. Yes, Mikrotechna’s future looks good.” q
