Trig Avionics’ TY91 and TY92 communication radios

This new system architecture can reduce the total audio/radio interface wiring in an aircraft to as little as 1 foot, with Technisonic transceivers, dramatically cutting installation wiring cost, time and weight when installing multiple user stations. The new audio system features easy simulcast operation for up to eight transceivers, plus paging and PA functions, two ICS busses and two levels of emergency operation. All units feature agile legends, which can be altered at any time, and every unit comes with more than 100 labeling choices at no additional cost. Regular blue-white or NVG lighting of the fully illuminated controls also is available. The system is exclusively distributed by Dallas Avionics for Technisonic. Scheduled for production release in mid-to-late 2012 with TSO approval, the company said its Access/D provides a perfect large-scale complement to Technisonic’s existing advanced Access/A A710, A711 and A711L analog systems, giving installers and users a very rich choice of high-performance audio and radio control systems. Technisonic’s Access/A analog audio control, the A711L and the TDFM7300 P25 FM Tactical Digital Radio system recently were part of a major fleet retrofit at the Los Angeles Police Department, bringing increased tactical communication power to the updated LAPD fleet, along with enhanced encrypted multi-band FM simulcast operation. TRIG AVIONICS Trig Avionics unveiled its latest products at the AEA Convention, including two lightweight comm radios and a new transponder line designed as ADS-B building blocks. Andy Davis, Trig CEO, launched the company’s TY91 and TY92 communication radios, both 2.25-inch panel-mount units, which are designed to take up minimal space and weight and are ideally suited for light aircraft operators looking for a compact and certified 25 kHz and 8.33 kHz VHF comms solution. “It’s great to be at the AEA to launch our TY91 and TY92 radios,” Davis said. “They’re the perfect match to our compact and popular TT21 and TT22 transponders. Trig customers asked for a radio that’s small and easy to install, so now we’re offering the aviation community an unbeatable transponder and VHF comms combination.” The TY91 has a nominal power output of 6 watts and will suit the majority of general aviation aircraft with

14- or 28-volt electrical systems. The TY92 has a nominal power output of 16 watts and is designed for use with 28-volt systems. The TY92 is ideal for high-performance and high-altitude airplanes, either as a primary or back-up radio. Both comms are designed with a control head separate from the rest of the product, giving an aircraft owner many more installation options. “With a TY91 or TY92 installed in a panel, the control head is only 3 inches deep,” Davis said. “This will make them really popular with glider, light sport and ultralight pilots who usually have less panel space. These are still serious general aviation radios, fully certified and compliant with future changes in European airspace that require the use of 8.33 kHz.” According to Trig, key features of the TY91 and TY92 include light weight, compact size, simple operation via positive controls – allowing their use while wearing gloves – a crisp display, dual watch function, nine memory pre-sets, a built-in speaker amplifier and a two-place intercom as standard. In addition, Trig announced that its TT31 and TT22 transponders can be installed in a general aviation aircraft today, and with a software update will be 2020 ADS-B mandate ready. TrueNorth Avionics used the AEA Convention to bring new additions to its line of satellite-based communications by announcing its TrueNorth Stylus handset and iPhone application, plus new developments in broadband connectivity, will be coming soon to an aircraft cabin near you. TrueNorth Avionics bills its Stylus handset as the industry’s first with multilingual capability and stressed the product’s slim design and high-definition audio, plus a wide range of personalization options including background screens, ringtones and calling features.
