Balancing Act AirNet Aviation Services’ success comes even as operators are rethinking how and when they use their aircraft. “The economic downturn the past few years has dealt a significant blow to business aviation,” Lindberg said. “Aircraft operators are faced with higher operating costs across the board, whether it is a corporate G-IV or a Baron 58. The rising cost of maintenance, fuel, flight crews and routine services have made it much more difficult to justify keeping a corporate aircraft in service. We’ve seen more than one customer sell or just park their aircraft. “For those who do continue to operate their aircraft, our customers are searching for ways to maintain their fleet in the most economical way possible. In order to meet their needs, we are constantly examining ways to control costs while maintaining our superior service levels.” With the cost of training, test equipment, manual revisions and more, it’s a balancing act for repair stations like AirNet Aviation Services to be competitive and still comply with regulations.
One way to build loyalty and help customers control their costs is offering significant discounts on fuel for bringing an aircraft in for service, according to Lindberg. “Right now, new equipment is challenging to sell,” he said.
