Latin America, Australia and New Zealand. During my time at Tracor, I met the two men who started DAC – Mike Crouch and Terry Armstrong. Soon, I was back in Los Angeles covering South America, Australia and New Zealand for DAC. At that time, I had a desire to get back to Los Angeles, which Mike and Terry agreed to let me do. From there, I spent 20 years covering those markets for DAC until Mike asked me to move to Austin five years ago to get more involved in management.

Prior to DAC, where did you work?
I’ve been at DAC since 1986. Prior to that, I was with Tracor Aerospace in Austin. Prior to that, I was with Litton Aero Products in California, which today is part of Northrop Grumman. Back then, I worked with people like Ed Musilli, Hal Adams and Larry Levine. I started at Litton in field support and opened the company’s Miami office in support of Eastern Airlines and South America. I was there for approximately three years and was supporting customers in South America and Florida. At that time, I was single and had a desire to live in South America – in Brazil or Chile – and I requested that from management. I eventually was told no, but was offered relocation to California to work with Ray Bruland, who, at the time, was the marketing director for Latin America. I worked with Ray for about a year before he retired, and I took over sales for Latin America. After five years with Litton, I moved to Austin and worked a short time with Tracor covering sales in

Recently, Patricia Luebke, Avionics News contributor, spoke with Cisco Hernandez to learn about his work at DAC International.

What do you like best about your job?
I have always loved traveling, meeting people, getting out there and having interesting conversations and experiencing different cultures. I’m a pretty active guy, so I have to be busy. I have always traveled 30 to 50 percent of the time. Since we represent a significant number of companies, there’s always something new to promote and sell as opposed to selling the same thing over and over. You can always stay busy within our organization.

I’m vice president of sales and marketing, which means all the salespeople in the field and our inside sales
