WEST STAR AVIATION announced the availability of the enhanced flight vision system known as Hud Vision Access for the Challenger 604 and Challenger 605 aircraft. Certification of the system is expected January 2013. The HVA system consists of three LRUs and provides numerous benefits to the operator, including safer operation in low visibility, enhanced situation awareness, terrain avoidance and runway incursion detection. However, the most prominent benefit to the operator is the lower landing credits to minimums of 100 feet above the ground, which is half of the typical ILS approach. Lower minimums allow operators access to areas where other aircraft and operators cannot land. Furthermore, operators can get these lower minimums by simply installing and using the HVA system, and there are no additional certifications or special training required. ROCKWELL COLLINS announced its Pro Line Fusion advanced avionics successfully completed the first test flight on the Embraer Executive Jets’ Legacy 500 mid-size business jet. The flight occurred at Embraer’s headquarters in Sấo José dos Campos, Brazil. “This flight brings us one step closer to delivering the best available cockpit technology to Embraer Executive Jets and its global customer base,” said GREG IRMEN, vice president and general manager, business and regional systems for Rockwell Collins. “The Legacy 450/500 program is a great source of pride for our company as we strengthen our presence in Brazil, one of the fastest-growing aviation markets in the world.” First deliveries of the aircraft are expected to begin in early 2014. Pro Line Fusion features a pilotselectable display format that allows the crew to view a wide range of information, such as flight-critical data, synoptic diagrams of aircraft information, navigational charts and maps on multiple presentations, significantly enhancing situational awareness. To date, Pro Line Fusion has been selected for 17 aircraft platforms, including the Brazilian Air Force’s Embraer KC-390 tanker/ transport aircraft.
