JEPPESEN MAKES
HEADLINES AT AIRVENTURE

since 2003, Jeppesen arrived at this year's
Experimental Aircraft Association AirVenture in
Oshkosh, Wis., with several announcements regarding
new products and collaborations aimed squarely at
multiple segments of the general aviation community.
The announcements made this summer show
Jeppesen's continued support of general aviation and
highlights the reason why the company has prospered
for more than 75 years. Not
only is Jeppesen providing
information for pilots, but
it also is helping create the
next generation of pilots and
technicians.
Furthermore, Jeppesen is demonstrating its role
as a key component of Boeing Edge, which has the
capability of providing solutions that span an entire
aviation enterprise. The company is a Boeing subsidiary
and part of the Digital Aviation business unit within
Boeing Commercial Aviation Services. Boeing offers
the industry's largest portfolio of services, support and
solutions, collectively known as the Boeing Edge.
Below is an overview of the news and notes made
during the company's media blitz at AirVenture.
Jeppesen Mobile FliteDeck VFR Solution
Headlining the company's announcements at
AirVenture, Jeppesen introduced Mobile FliteDeck
VFR for general aviation pilots in the continental
U.S. According to the company, the product is a new
iPad-based navigation and planning solution designed

specifically for private pilots operating under visual
flight rules conditions.
Jeppesen Mobile FliteDeck VFR is available with
numerous charting navigation coverage options,
including full-U.S. VFR coverage with a $49 annual
data subscription. Previously introduced for European
pilots, the new VFR mobile application for iPad builds on
Jeppesen's mobile architecture and was designed in close
coordination with VFR pilots to enhance specific workflow
capabilities.
The application
includes fully interactive
features and functions
designed for VFR
flying, including data-driven enroute navigation and
route planning capabilities. In addition, the product has
both planning and flying modes with access to NOTAMs
and text and graphical weather data. Jeppesen Mobile
FliteDeck VFR aircraft settings also allow for management
of planned, actual and past flights, providing simplified
access to preferred flight data.
"Jeppesen Mobile FliteDeck VFR is a dynamic new
solution that enhances the entire VFR flying experience
from route planning to taxi and parking," said Tim Huegel,
director of Jeppesen Aviation Portfolio Management.
"Taking a strong user-centric design approach allowed
us to understand the workflow requirements of VFR
pilots, and we are providing VFR subscription data at an
affordable cost to make Mobile FliteDeck VFR widely
accessible for the private pilot community."
