those actions for the blunders that
they are, and you'll lose their trust,
dedication and devotion. If they
continue to follow you, it's only
out of compliance, not commitment.
9. Ignore employee wellbeing.
According to Dale Carnegie Training,
two-thirds of employees don't think
their manager cares about their personal lives. Perhaps they've heard
too many times such things as, "I
was here Saturday; where were you?"
These kinds of sentiments don't make
them more productive, it burns them
out.
In reality, small things make a big
difference in maintaining an employee's morale, such as allowing them to
leave a meeting that's run late so they
can make a doctor's appointment,
according to executive coach Allison
Rimm. Each sends the message that an
employee's personal needs are important. Indeed, smart managers know
that when employees' personal needs
are met, they can better focus on their
professional obligations at the office.
