Judging by the growing interest from the aviation media

and AEA members in the AEA New Product Introductions,
industry officials are sending a clear signal they understand
the importance of keeping up-to-date on the latest products
and industry trends in a fast-moving industry. The event
provides its attendees with the chance to participate in new
product demonstrations, meet existing suppliers, compare
new products and services, and build relationships to help
the avionics industry thrive and prosper. Las Vegas in 2013
should be no different. q

Helpful Hints for Companies
Announcing New Products
Does your company plan to unveil a new product or
service at this year’s AEA Convention in Las Vegas? If
so, you have chosen the industry spotlight, so here are
some helpful hints to make the most of your multimedia
presentation at the New Product Introductions session.
First, be aware that in order to produce a quality presentation and live broadcast, which is being recorded by
the Aero-News Network for wide distribution and syndication across dozens of popular e-media and aviation
websites like YouTube and others, a little effort in advance
is required on your part. Therefore, do not include any
copyright violations, primarily music and videos, that are
copyrighted. Presentations with copyright violations will
not receive the maximum amount of publicity as a result.
Take note that some free services are offered to presenting companies in order to help create a more interesting
and compelling new product presentation. For example,
the Aero-News Network offers each presenter access to
its massive B-roll library for video clips and graphics that
are either royalty-free or options that may be obtained
cost-effectively. Contact the ANN editor-in-chief to take
advantage of this offer.
In addition, the June issue of Avionics News magazine, along with the 2013-14 Pilot’s Guide to Avionics,
will provide a complete review of the new products introduced to the market. In order for your new product
to receive the coverage it deserves, companies should
forward, in advance of the AEA Convention but no later
than March 15, all pertinent press releases and support-

ing high-resolution images with captions to the Avionics News staff in order to meet publishing deadlines.
Avionics News will respect embargoed news items. By
communicating and sharing your news with the Avionics News staff in advance, we can better prepare to accurately share your information with the industry in a
timely fashion. In other words, help us help you.
And don’t forget to bring your press releases and materials to the AEA Press Headquarters at the MGM Grand
Hotel & Convention Center. Generally, members of the
media prefer digital copies rather than paper copies, so
come prepared with information on a thumb drive or
other form of digital communication. A media luncheon
will immediately follow the New Product Introductions,
and we anticipate a strong media presence in attendance
to learn more about your new product or service.
Finally, limit yourself to announcing just one or two
new products or services, as any more than that can
lose the focus and attention of what you really want
to emphasize in a short amount of time. And be prepared. If you want to make a professional presentation
and stand out from the competition, take time to put
together an attention-getting moment. You only have
a couple of minutes to shine and drive the dealers to
your trade show booth in the exhibit hall, so be sure
to outline the outstanding features, price and delivery
of your new product or service rather than just making
a sales pitch. Don’t be boring. Make it fun, and make it
memorable. q
