What do you like best
about your job?

I work with a great group of
people. Of course, the flying makes
it more fun.

What’s the corporate
culture at Aerotex?
Because we are a small
company, it’s more of a family
culture than a corporate one.
We’re informal for the most
part. When the weather is
good, we’ll sometimes pull the
grill out and cook some burgers
for lunch. We all get along well.
We help each other and are a
united team in the process.
Bobby is here on a daily
basis and is very active in the
business. He sets a good tone for
the company, challenging us to
do our best. He’s a good friend
to work for and probably the
main reason for my longevity at
Aerotex. Plus, we all love sports,
and he got us a suite to watch
a Dallas Mavericks basketball
game for our Christmas party,
so what’s not to like?

Have you been active
in the AEA?

Aerotex has been a member
from day one. I’ve attended AEA
Conventions and Regional Meetings
since 1973, with the exception of my
restaurant business days.

What do you do when
you’re not working?

My wife, Robin, and I are active
in our church, Denton Bible. It’s
a large church and offers plenty of ministry opportunities. I am
involved in the men’s discipleship,
where an older man is matched
with a younger one, helping him
to put out any fires in his life
and encouraging him to maintain
a daily quiet time of Bible reading
and prayer. After six months to a
year, the disciple can help another
man do the same.
Robin and I also are involved in
the marriage reconciliation ministry. We meet with a married couple
struggling in their marriage in some
way. We stress Biblical principles to
help them focus on the needs of
their spouse instead of themselves.

Do you have children?

We have five kids and three
grandkids. Our children are all
grown now, ranging from 21 to 36
years old. We are empty nesters
and have adjusted quite well. We
have two granddaughters, ages 9
and 18, and a 13-year old grandson.
We can have fun with them and still
load them up on sugar and send
them home.

Tell me about Robin.

She is a financial advisor for
Stifel Nicolaus in Denton, Texas.
I give her all my money, and she
does marvelous things with it.

Robin and I enjoy traveling. We
love to cruise, so we’ve been on
several over the years. Our favorite cruise was Australia and New
Zealand back in 2008, although
we’re both content to snorkel in
some warm Caribbean water. I also
scuba dive, but Robin prefers to
snorkel. I’m still working on her to
get certified to dive.

What have you seen
diving that’s special?

Beautiful coral, sting rays, turtles,
groupers – you name it. We have
a timeshare in Grand Cayman, so
we try to spend a week there every
year. When I realized how clear the
water is there, I knew I wanted to
get certified to dive. There is so
much to see, and it’s a whole different world.

What do you see
for the future?

Short term, maybe not as clear
skies as we would like due to the
poor economy our industry has suffered through the last few years.
I’m the ultimate optimist though,
and I believe our economy and
industry will improve by the latter part of this year, if not sooner.
I don’t think there are unrealistic
goals, maybe just unrealistic time
frames. q
