members utilize for help
and information?
Baxter: Certainly, one of the best
resources a member has is another
member. Even if business is not
being carried out directly with that
member, they can be a valuable
source of information.
While we’re not always dealing
in the global economy, with the
advent of worldwide associations
like the AEA and others, we are all
dealing in a global business. These
associations make a large industry
with many thousands of people
covering the whole globe seem very
small. And word of mouth, good or
bad, spreads like an out-of-control
bushfire throughout the industry.
This alone is usually enough to
ensure a member acts in an honest
and trustworthy manner.

Contacting local business
representatives for advice may
be contradicting your intention.
They may have more or less
good reasons not to support you.
Contact other local customers you
know and ask them to provide
you with background information
about your client and things you
should be aware.

contact your AEA regulatory
representative in the geographical
area of interest, such as the U.S.,
Canada, Europe and Asia/Pacific
areas. They will have knowledge
of bilateral agreements between the
countries in their region and other
countries. They also may be able
to put you in touch with the local
authorities or consultants. q
