JEPPESEN recently introduced

an improved version of CrewAlert,
a leading mobile app for airline
crew for fatigue risk management.
The enhanced
CrewAlert app
now is able to
immediately calculate a strategy from hundreds of thousands of sleep
patterns and
light exposure
combinations to
increase crew
alertness and
overall flight
safety, according to the company.
Currently,
airline crew are
increasingly
being trained
in fatigue risk
management
as required by
regulators worldwide. In addition
to training in the basic science
behind crew fatigue, the training
also contains fatigue mitigation
strategies.
Jeppesen is now simplifying the
application of scientific principles
to a specific crew roster context
with the new functionality offered
by CrewAlert. The new version
contains built-in scientific mitiga-

tion strategies automatically calculated to fit the roster and individual settings, such as individual
sleep requirements, commute
times and more.
With a simple tap
on the app timeline, a strategy
for boosting and
maintaining alertness at that point
in time is calculated within seconds, investigating up to 900,000
possible sleep
patterns and light
exposure combinations.
CrewAlert
contains a wide
range of functionality, making
it a suitable app
for addressing
the recommendations from ICAO
on predictive,
proactive and reactive fatigue risk
capabilities.
CrewAlert is available for iOS
devices only. CrewAlert Lite, a
version not containing the new
fatigue mitigation functionality, is
available free of charge worldwide.

StarPort
STARPORT, a Cambata Aviation

International LLC company, has
appointed JOSEPH DOUBLEDAY as
director of maintenance. Doubleday
will direct the day-to-day operations
of the aircraft maintenance business,
including avionics overhaul and repair
refurbishment and paint.
Before joining StarPort, Doubleday
spent 27 years in several positions of
increasing responsibility with the Federal
Aviation Administration. Most recently, he
served as manager
of the aircraft
maintenance and
engineering group
at the FAA facility
in Oklahoma City,
Okla. His duties
included serving
as accountable
manager of a
Joseph Doubleday
CFR Part 145
certificated repair station with Class 3
and 4 airframe ratings. Operating as a
government fee-for-service franchise,
the enterprise employed more than 300
people at five locations.
Additionally, Doubleday served as
holder of an organization delegation
authorization with STC and MRA
authority.
Doubleday has an FAA airframe and
powerplant certification and served eight
years in the U.S. Air Force as an aircraft
mechanic and technical instructor.
