Becker Avionics
At the recent Aircraft Electronics Association International
Convention & Trade Show in Las Vegas, BECKER
AVIONICS INC. announced that its new fixed-wing oriented
digital audio and intercom system, DVCS6100, which
is specifically tailored for business jet applications, has
recently been installed by Greenwich AeroGroup’s Western
Aircraft service center in Boise, Idaho, to replace a legacy
Baker audio system on a customer-owned Sabreliner jet.
The Becker DVCS6100 system provided a much-needed
modern ICS upgrade for this aircraft, according to the
company.
Becker’s new fixed-wing ACU6100s comes in a horizontal
and vertical format to ease retrofit installations. The new
panels have a gray or black faceplate design and are similar
to the standard ACU6100, but include oxygen mic switching,

marker mute and numerous additional functions. Both panel
formats are available in a number of different lighting options,
from soft-white light to NVG compatible lighting. Designed
based on precise human factors, the new ACU6100 audio
selector panel controls all audio and intercom functionality
via CAN-bus connection to the Remote Electronic Unit (REU)
6100.
The DVCS6100 digital ICS integrates all communications
in the aircraft and provides flexible user-programmable
configurations. According to Becker, its digital multichannel
audio and intercom system provides the flexibility to
specifically customize the system to meet the demanding
requirements of business aviation and the airlines.

FreeFlight Systems
FREEFLIGHT SYSTEMS introduced the RANGR-RX dualband ADS-B receiver for simultaneous reception of 1090 and
978 MHz ADS-B traffic data and 978 MHz ADS-B In flight
information service-broadcast weather data in a compact, integrated system.
According to the company, the RANGR-RX gives aircraft
owners increased flexibility when equipping for ADS-B, delivering the benefits of traffic and weather data now, while maintaining compatibility with existing avionics. FreeFlight reported its
RANGR-RX also provides greater long-term value than other
ADS-B In receivers, because it is designed to be part of a
fully rule-compliant installation when configured with a certified WAAS GPS and ADS-B Out datalink radio. The system is
permanently installed in the aircraft and includes an external
bottom-mounted 978 MHz ADS-B antenna. An antenna diversity
option is available for use with multiple antennas.
The RANGR-RX is a solution for adding ADS-B In data services to an aircraft with an existing certified ADS-B Out datalink
radio. The modular system also helps aircraft owners plan for
one-time or phased installations of ADS-B capabilities before

the Jan. 1, 2020, deadline to meet schedule and budget requirements. Owners of experimental aircraft also gain the benefits of
ADS-B In avionics compatible with popular cockpit displays, plus
a clear upgrade path to meet ADS-B Out requirements.
RANGR-RX receives all 978 MHz FIS-B graphical weather,
NOTAMs and other information from the ADS-B ground station
network. It also receives ADS-B, ADS-R and Traffic Information
Service-Broadcast traffic data on 1090 MHz and 978 MHz.
RANGR-RX connects to a rule-compliant WAAS GPS for
accurate display of traffic and weather data. The system is
optionally available with an integrated rule-compliant WAAS
GPS and GPS antenna for ease of installation. RANGR-RX
supports the industry-standard capstone data interface protocol
for connection to a cockpit display and is available with a dualoutput option for viewing of traffic and weather data on separate
displays.
The RANGR-RX is compliant with applicable ADS-B In, traffic and FIS-B processing and installation requirements.
