growth mode, so one day I may be
looking for inventory and the next
day looking for a business to possibly purchase. My territory is the
globe. I don’t really have two days
that are the same since we have
added manufacturing and repair
capabilities. I spend 50 to 60 percent of my time with distribution
and split the rest of my day with
manufacturing and repair.

Your company is still
quite young, right?

The company got started in 2003,
so it’s a fairly new company. There
were just six employees until 2007.
When I started in 2008, there were 15
to 20 employees, and soon we were
up to 45. Today, we’re around 60.

That’s amazing growth
considering the economic
situation we’ve been in.

We took advantage of the recession. Typically, people don’t want
to hold much inventory, but we’re
opportunistic and buy inventory
every day. Being in the aftermarket
side, we continually have to buy
products. It doesn’t matter where
the parts come from if there is
good traceability and they are up
to our quality standards. We are
not only accredited to ASA 100,
we are also certified to ISO 9001,
AS 9120.
Our management is agile. It
doesn’t take us three or four days
to make a decision. Within our
management, there are close to

200 years of aviation experience.
Fortunately, we all have different
backgrounds – distribution, manufacturing, as well as experience
outside the aviation industry.
The company is on a growth
cycle. When the market is in a
downturn, we take advantage of
it. People know we are still buying for stock. We like to move fast,
and we’re diversified in how we
operate. We sell our own products
and take on consignments if the
customer doesn’t want to sell it
outright.

What do you do when
you’re not working?

I try to relax. I’ve only been married since 2008. It took me a while
to find someone who would tolerate me. We enjoy our swimming
pool and going to El Dorado Lake
near Wichita. I also enjoy typical
activities, such as golfing, fishing,
hunting and bowling. I got my wife
interested in riding motorcycles. I
miss her on the back of mine, but
seeing the smile on her face riding
her own is priceless.

Tell me about your wife.

Jennifer was working at Cessna
and got laid off, so this is the first
time she has been able to enjoy
the kids. Jen is a karaoke junkie,
so we are always out looking for a
place we can fulfill her addiction.
We have some great fun together.
When we got married, I inherited two wonderful kids. Our son,

Cooper, is 10 and our daughter,
Jordan, just turned 15. Cooper is
into baseball, basketball and video
games. Jordan is into singing, cute
boys and being a typical teenage
girl.
In fact, Cooper and Jordan’s dad
wanted to set up my mom and
his dad on a date. That happened
and, as it turned out, they are getting married. So that means my
wife’s ex-husband is going to be
my stepbrother. I know it sounds
like a Jerry Springer episode, but it
works for all of us.
Right now, we’re setting up a
business for my wife – smoked
meats and catering on the side –
and she’ll have a barbecue food
truck by the end of the year.

What do you see in your
crystal ball for the future?

I’m going to retire when I win
the lottery or strike oil in my back
yard. If that doesn’t happen, I will
continue working for GlobalParts.
aero pursuing new opportunities
that will keep growing the company. In terms of the company,
we’ll continue expanding and diversifying. We’re adding about 50,000
square feet of manufacturing and
warehouse space. I’m learning stuff
every day. My future is bright and
positive on the home front and at
work. q
