Field Aviation Scholarship

Riley Daniel Godkin of Ladysmith, British
Columbia, Canada, will attend British
Columbia’s Institute of Technology in its
aircraft maintenance engineer category “M”
(maintenance).
The course is a 16-month program and once
completed, he would like to train at a company like Boeing
or Air Canada.

Flying Magazine’s Private Pilot’s License (two awards)

Sarah Nulik of Wichita, Kan., has been with
Bevan-Rabell since she started part time five
years ago. While her focus is on marketing and
her knowledge of avionics and instruments is
still growing, she appreciates the need to understand how all of the instruments work together.
She enjoys working with customers to explain all of the great
technologies their planes can have and wants to earn her pilot’s
license to help answer questions for Bevan-Rabell customers.

Flying Magazine’s Private Pilot’s License

Ciprian Anthony Plesca of Loxahatchee, Fla., is
an avionics technician for Palm Beach Avionics
and plans to pursue his pilot’s license with North
County Flight Training in West Palm Beach, Fla.
He sees the benefit of improving the customer’s
experience by being able to better communicate
about their issues in the cockpit. He also feels he will be better
equipped to recommend products and services to his customers
and troubleshoot problems with their existing technology.

Garmin – Jerry Smith Memorial Scholarship

Paul Isaac Xavier of Carbondale, Ill., is an
international student from Malaysia. He came
to the U.S. to pursue his dream of having a
career in aviation. He is currently enrolled at
Southern Illinois University in the aviation
technology program. He plans to pursue his
airframe and powerplant license, as well as earn a bachelor’s degree in avionics and a minor in finance.
At SIU, he is active in the Aviation Management
Society among other organizations, while serving as a resident assistant.

Gene Baker Memorial Scholarship

Rhiannon Pescitani of Charles Town, W.V.,
will attend West Virginia University, where
she will major in general studies, with an
interest in psychology. In June, she attended
a week-long adventure camp for WVU for
Habitat for Humanity.

Jim Cook Honorary Scholarship

Yatin Mistry of Brampton, Ontario, Canada is
currently attending the University of Ontario
Institute of Technology for Networking
and Information Technology Security.
Throughout college, she has earned and
maintained honors status while also working
part time with HP as a product specialist.

Johnny Davis Memorial Scholarship
Garmin Scholarship

Whitney Brouwer of Raymond, Minn., is currently attending LeTrouneau University, where
she is pursing a Bachelor of Science degree in
aircraft systems with an electrical technology
concentration. Through this degree, she will
be trained to become a certified airframe and
powerplant mechanic.
Brouwer’s future career plans are to be a part of developing new avionics for general aviation, also while improving
and troubleshooting current systems.

Jesse Dye of Southgate, Ky., is currently
attending Cincinnati State and has maintained a 4.0 GPA through his second term of
the aviation maintenance program.
Dye is an active member of the Ohio
Aircraft Technicians Society and is on track
to test for his airframe rating in August 2013, and his powerplant rating in 2014. His future career plans focus on
work with large transport category airplanes.
