"We always have a variety of harnesses available in
various states of completion, including the Bell 206
and 212, Eurocopter AS350 and the MD 500, D and
E models. This allows flexibility to the client. The
customer can take our kits and perform the installation
themselves or with their own personnel, or we can
combine the kit sale with manpower and complete the
work ourselves."
Aeronav Avionics creates the Bell helicopter WiKITs
in a modular format prewired with minimal on-aircraft
terminations required. Aftermarket and avionics system
wiring can be implemented with the airframe wiring or
marked and harnessed separately.
The MD-series helicopter WiKIT is available in a
variety of configurations, depending on the model and
options. OEM or aftermarket kit options are available
and can be prewired to minimize on-site installation
time.
In February 2012, Aeronav Avionics completed
its installation of Aspen Avionics Evolution Flight
Displays on a Eurocopter AS350 helicopter in pursuit
of a supplemental type certificate, which was issued
the following month. The installation and certification

flights took two technicians four days.
"The system is the simplest and most cost-effective
glass cockpit offering on the market today," explained
Carinha, who is expecting FAA familiarization of the
STC in 2014. "The interfaces are straightforward, and
the only time-consuming part is augering the instrument
panel to fit the display's vibration mount. Electrically,
the installation is relatively straightforward."
Creating Good Karma
Perhaps the most remarkable aspect of Aeronav Avionics
is its devotion to unconditional customer service. Carinha
once helped troubleshoot a GPS/nav interface issue while
on a fishing vacation. With cellphone in one hand and a
fishing rod in the other, he helped solve the issue and still
landed his largest halibut to date.
"One of the largest selling features of the Aeronav
brand is our troubleshooting prowess and the ability to
have access to that 24/7," Carinha said. "For the most
part, a call that garners insight and a solution or resolve
to the end user goes uncharged. The experience and
expeditious service is what will be remembered. It's
an educated gamble on my part, but one that has never
