Flight-Deck Avionics

Previously, the Cessna legacy avionics were mixed with newer
devices. Familiar Cessna plastic panel overlays and post-lamps
are visible.

What was the objective
of this project?
To add Garmin's G500 Retrofit
PFD/MFD, GMA 340 Audio Panel,
GNS 430W WAAS-GPS/nav/comm,

SL40 Com Transceiver, and GTX
330 Mode S Transponder. All new
custom-coated, CNC-fabricated
instrument panels were added
for an updated instrument layout
that provided the ability for
future expansion. An instrument
lighting package was added,
eliminating the original post
lamps. Original plastic trim was
replaced on the lower subpanel
and control pedestal, and factory
circuit breakers were replaced
with modern pull-type breakers.
Finally, the glareshield and
forward deck was upholstered,
adding the Flight-Deck touch.

Aug. 31, 2011
What makes this
project unique?
We were able to deliver GPSS Roll
Steering signal to the existing
autopilot. We replaced the factory
shock-mounted instrument panels
with new hard-mounted, CNCfabricated instrument panels. And
we replaced the factory orange
plastic subpanel trim and centercontrol pedestal with new parts
delivered in flat black.
What did you learn
from this project?
We were able to further streamline
our installation process, resulting
in shorter downtime.
What was the customer's
response?
The client was thrilled with the
increased situational awareness,
ease of operation and new
reliability. q
