John Wasmund of

(maintenance, repair and overhaul)
in the country, Constant Aviation
understands the importance of
aircraft availability, predictability
and minimizing operational costs
for its customers.
Recently, Patricia Luebke,
Avionics News contributor, spoke
with John Wasmund, avionics sales
manager at Constant Aviation, to
learn more about his work and life
outside the office.

onstant Aviation has
locations in Cleveland,
Ohio, Birmingham,
Ala., and Las Vegas, Nev. Each
facility specializes in airframe
maintenance, engine repair
maintenance, major repairs,
avionics, interior refurbishment
and modification, parts
distribution, accessory and
composite services. As one
of the fastest growing MROs

With...

I started at Constant Aviation in
2013 as avionics sales manager,
responsible for all avionics upgrade
and modification quotes. I travel
with the sales team on a regular
basis to meet with customers and
discuss their needs. There also
is a close working relationship
with all facilities when customers
are in-house. The other aspect
of my role is to work with the
engineering team on possible STCs
(supplemental type certificates).
I always try to stay current on
new products coming available
and ensure our sales team has
that information. The more I
am educated, the better I am at
providing options to customers.

Prior to Constant Aviation,
where were you?
I spent 10 years at Hawker
Beechcraft - I started there in April

2003 as an installation tech. I
relocated from Daytona Beach to
Atlanta for the opportunity. Three
months later, I was promoted to
crew lead. I did that for more than
two years through all the RVSM
and TAWS mandates. I came to
Hawker Beechcraft from a small
shop where we would have five
or six installation projects a year.
At Hawker Beechcraft, we were
running five or six airplanes
at one time. I learned how to
manage the entire job. I gained
experience overseeing crews and
working with outside contractors
and engineers. I was then moved
into an avionics engineering role
where I supported three facilities
in Van Nuys, Atlantic City and
Atlanta. At that time, if a job
required engineering support,
it typically went to our Atlanta
facility where I was based. This
gave me tremendous exposure to
the project management side.
A friend of mine was in sales
for Hawker Beechcraft and invited
me on sales calls with different
customers. He mentored me
and taught the ins and outs of
the sales process. I was given
the opportunity to transition
into a sales position in 2007,
where I was responsible for both
maintenance and avionics sales. In
a decision to streamline the sales
process, I transitioned into strictly
avionics sales for the East Coast.
