There is a report originally published in
the United Kingdom that is posted on the
EASA (European Aviation Safety Agency)
EGAST (European General Aviation
Safety Team) website. It shows the benefit
of acquiring a visual target with the help of
TIS in which pilots who had the benefit of
TIS were able to acquire the visual target
in a fraction of the time that pilots without
TIS were able to do.

Broadcast
FIS-B provides pilots with a cockpit
display of certain aviation weather and
aeronautical information. FIS-B service
is currently availability in most regions
throughout the national airspace system.
Beyond the normal and enhanced
weather information that FIS-B brings
into the cockpit, FIS-B also includes
NOTAMs (notices to airmen) and TFRs
(temporary flight restrictions) as well as
SUA (special use airspace) status reports,
which can be quite helpful when operating
around high-density military operating
areas.
Nothing demonstrates the value of the
situational benefit of ADS-B better than
the introduction of the GPS/moving-map
technology of the late 1990s. In the 2000s
the highest classification of general aviation accidents was CFIT, or controlled
flight into terrain. Today, the situational
awareness that the GPS/moving-map
technology (both with installed systems
as well as the portable systems) has nearly
eliminated CFIT as causal factors in general aviation accidents. Today, the goal is
for the weather technologies of ADS-B
