an easier way to upgrade to LED lighting through a
unique "bypass" installation option. As if that weren't
enough, the product line also offers high-efficiency
lighting when compared with old-tech incandescent

Flight Display Systems
Steve Lord, regional sales manager for Flight Display
Systems, told AEA Convention attendees the past year
had been an exciting one for his company, and included
developing several new products for its cabin management
system and in-flight entertainment lines.
Flight Display Systems' newest product is its XM
Radio Streamer, also known as the DAPS360 Ver 2,
which interfaces with the company's wireless jukebox,
JetJukebox, using a Web browser. The product also can
interface with the majority of in-service cabin management
systems. As its name implies, the XM Radio Streamer
streams satellite radio channels to a variety of personal
devices, including iOS or Android phones and tablets,
either wired or wirelessly. The new product also includes
a voice-assisted set-up capability, featuring easy-to-follow,
step-by-step instructions using headphones. Up to 16 units
are supported per aircraft, giving passengers access to more
channels from every seat. Channel selection, artist and song
name are all controlled via an RS-232 serial port.
Also new from Flight Display Systems is the Smart
Cabin CMS, which the company billed as a "convergence
of cabin management, in-flight entertainment and wireless
connectivity." With Smart Cabin, the company said
passengers can use a personal electronic device to control
HD video equipment, cabin lighting, audio, and much
more. Smart Cabin is based around the latest-generation
JetJukebox, the company's IFE workhorse that allows
streaming HD-quality video to any iOS, Android, or
Windows PED, and allows users to connect to the onboard
cabin management and in-flight entertainment systems.
A passenger's PED also can be used as a source to share
business-related files. And if wireless control isn't enough,
a wide array of touchscreens and OLED buttons can be
used to integrate into an existing décor and provide a wider
variety of functionality. Smart Cabin's wired controllers
can be used with galley equipment, lights, window shades,
attendant calls, cabin temperature controls and more.

consistency and unmatched color blending. To achieve
these goals, EMTEQ employed a next-generation lens,
creating a homogeneous lighting output while not
diminishing its intensity. A wider spread of the light
gives the cabin a fuller appearance, according to the
company.
But one of the most significant advantages to
EMTEQ's 3X Series is its installation flexibility. The
3X Series can be installed as either a minor modification
or as part of a full one. That's possible, in part, because
relatively heavy ballasts and power supplies for other
lighting technologies can be removed, saving weight in
the aircraft. Plus, the 3X series can use existing wiring,
and includes a regulated power supply, delivering steady
output directly from 28VDC aircraft power.
The 3X series line includes built-in step
dimming, along with variable dimming options,
and is designed for compatibilities with EMTEQ's
legacy ELW30 standard. To ease installation,
the 3X series uses the same mounting clips,
eliminating the need to change clip inventory or
