Hamed Baher of Airbus Defense and Space Military Aircraft

Hamed Baher to learn about his work
at Airbus DS Military and his life outside the office.

family, Airbus Defense and
Space Military Aircraft Inc. offers
MRO services, complete component
repair, extensive material services and
professional engineering and technical support for C212, CN235 and C295
aircraft. An integrated customer services
organization, Airbus DS Military Aircraft
has capabilities of servicing all models
of the C295, CN235 and C212. Component repair of hydraulic and electrical components on CN235, C212 and
C295 models, as well as tail composite
repairs for Falcon F7X aircraft are also
performed. It is strategically based
in Mobile, Alabama, and offers an
expansive 8,000-square-foot warehouse
stocked with OEM certified parts and a
30,000-square-foot hangar for mainte38

With...

I'm the lead avionics engineer
here and do a little of everything:
design, integration of electrical
systems, testing, troubleshooting,
and training for pilots on new
avionics suites. I also provide
technical support from the
engineering department.

How long have you worked
at Airbus Military?
I started working here in April 2010.
What did you do before?
I graduated from the University of
Nebraska in Lincoln, Nebraska, with a
bachelor's degree in electrical engineering. I was hired by Duncan Aviation
and worked there for a little more
than two years. From there, I went to
Ryan International Airlines in Rockford,
Illinois. I worked the same position as
an avionics engineer. From there, I was
offered the opportunity to come here.
When I started working for Airbus,
I went to Spain for more than two
months for training, and then came
back and have been here since then.

What's a typical day for you?
We start at 7:30 a.m. and work
until 4 p.m., but I usually come
earlier and stay later. A typical day
would be to come in and go through
emails for updates; I try to answer
emails and answer any questions
our production team may have. We
have meetings twice a week to go
over our projects, check open items
and resolve issues. In the mornings,
I usually go to the hangar where
the aircraft are and make a round
to make sure everything is going
smoothly and see if anyone has any
questions. Then I come back to the
office and work on my projects.
What do you like
best about your job?
A number of things. I like the
group of people I work with. We
have a good engineering group
here; they are very sharp and I like
my production team. The guys who
work on the aircraft are qualified
and professional. I like the fact
that even though we are part of
the big Airbus Group, this office is
family oriented and we take care
of each other. I like the day-to-day
challenges. There is a big emphasis
on training for people who work
here, whether getting training inside
the U.S. or Europe. At Airbus, it
is not just about what employees
can do for the company, but it
is also about caring for our own
employees.
