mechanics to assist," said James Stedman, quality manager and
chief inspector for B. Coleman Aviation's MRO. "On the install
side of the house, we have in-depth experience, too."
Stedman has 30 years of experience in military and business
aviation and leads the avionics department. Stedman served
nine years in the U.S. Navy, working on EA-6B Prowlers, the
tactical electronic jamming aircraft, and later in various roles
with Gulfstream, General Dynamics, Savannah Air Center, Jet
Aviation and others.
What's driving demand? According to Stedman, Wi-Fi
systems are popular and "ADS-B is starting to warm up. We do
a lot of entertainment upgrades with high-definition monitors
and iPad controls. Recently, we installed a 32-inch monitor and
an iPad entertainment control system on a Global Express. The
iPad lets you control your lights, shades, music, whatever is on
the airplane's existing cabin management system."

B. Coleman Aviation's crew installed a night vision camera system on a special mission aircraft for the Colombian government.
"We mounted a small camera and routed wiring to control
the camera and composite video to the existing entertainment
system," Stedman said. "Now, they can see deer and other
obstructions on the runway."
B. Coleman Aviation is an approved maintenance provider
for several Part 135 operators, including all the major carriers
and other smaller outfits. It also provides services for the Part
121 carrier Silver Airways, an airline located at the airport
operating SAAB 340s.
The repair station continues to add dealerships for most
major avionics manufacturers, according to Stedman, and is
focused on STC development.
