Meggitt acquired S-TEC in 2000. Cobham acquired
Sierra and renamed it Chelton in 2001. Then in 2008,
Cobham bought S-TEC and put the two companies
together.
Unfortunately, Cobham's timing was not perfect
- 2008 was an "interesting" year for the aerospace
business, and we've had to work through some
challenges. Cobham elected to sell the business last year,
and the stars aligned for us to acquire it through the
management buyout. The four of us, all senior managers,
came together and renamed it Genesys Aerosystems in
the middle of 2014.
We like to say we're a new company that's been
around for a long time.

With more than six months behind you,
where is Genesys Aerosystems today?

SMITH: We are enhancing aircraft safety and mission
performance, and we are doing that with the leading
solutions we have.
Currently, we have three main product lines - I'm
dividing our autopilot product lines into fixed-wing and
helicopters - and EFIS. The EFIS products are focused
on special-mission activities aboard helicopters like
Department of State and search and rescue applications.
