If the customer has to come in for a repair, we can figure out the problem fairly easily." Not all of American Avionics' projects involve vintage aircraft. "We designed and built portable HF ferry kits for the Boeing Company," he explained. "If Boeing is delivering an aircraft overseas, it is required to have an HF in it to fly over the ocean. A lot of customers don't want an HF system cluttering their cockpit. So Boeing uses one of our portable kits in aircraft for the delivery flight, and removes it when it's delivered to the customer." It helps that experience runs deep here with two managers who have been with the company for more than 30 years each. "We're a full-service avionics facility," Wiseman said.
