do any changes to the design of the
bulkhead."
To keep up with the demand, Rosen
Aviation recently reorganized its
facility's workflow, making room for an
upcoming expansion. It also is pursuing

AS 9100 certification for 2015.
"With the expansion, we'll be
able to better meet our OEM and
aftermarket customers' requirements,
produce more product, and continue
to give our customers the latest and
greatest technology," Cook said. q

"There isn't a lot of 4K content
out there yet, but we are starting to
see some from Netflix and Amazon
Prime," Cook said. "How do you
get that content and distribute it in
the aircraft? We can't stream from
Netflix while flying. Right now, you
can barely stream in ultra-HD on
the ground. But, it is coming. As the
industry progresses, the ability to get
Internet connections to the moving
airplane will become available to us."
Staying on the leading edge of
technology means Rosen Aviation
is always looking forward, making
decisions now that affect OEMs and
aircraft operators years into the future.
"Another big issue in our industry
is obsolescence," Cook said. "Flat
screen TVs are here one year, gone
the next. There is always something
new, and in aviation, that's difficult
on OEMs. They just can't change
their certification plans every year and
certify something new on the aircraft.
We have to make sure we can provide
products to them that will last four
and five years, sometimes even longer
before they have to make a change.
"OEMs need access to products that
don't require any kind of recertification
in that timeframe. That requires Rosen
to make a significant investment in
inventory to ensure we can continue
to provide that supply. In some cases,
the LCD goes obsolete before we
ever launch. We go out and buy them.
We make a significant investment to
ensure the OEMs have the product,
and that they don't have to go through
expensive certification changes."
Rosen Aviation not only needs
product on hand, the company has
to design with the future in mind,
ensuring its products won't look
dated quickly and will keep up with
customers' tech needs.
"For example, we see that the
market is going 4K, so we try to find
a 24-inch 4K display that allows us to
keep up with the technology and keep
the packaging the same size," Cook
