talked about his company. Right
away, I knew this was the job for
me. My dad always talked fondly
about his days at Collins Radio and
his dreams of flying. I worked at
Intertrade for 12 years, and my
customer base was Rockwell Collins
dealers and regional airlines.
And then to
Professional Aviation
Associates?
Not yet. Following a goal I had
with my husband at the time, in
2008, I left the industry to open
a restaurant/catering business
in my hometown. While I loved
interacting with my local community
and customers, I missed aviation
and sought to get back to selling
avionics. After selling my restaurant
in 2013, I got a call from Daniel at
Matrix Aviation, now Professional
Aviation Associates, wanting to
know if I would be interested in
joining their team.
What is a typical day?
I work from my home, so the
commute to work is short. With
technology today, working from home
seems like my office is just a cube
away. My days are spent responding
to customer requests, working as
Gehl's dog, Oscar
part of a team with Atlanta making
sure our customers are taken care
of. Professional Aviation Associates
fosters a respectful and collaborative
environment; this allows me to provide
our customers with top-notch service.
I'm out riding my Harley with friends.
On winter days, I stay busy quilting,
just another one of my many
hobbies. Traveling is high on my list;
I love discovering new places and
meeting new people.
And your life outside
the office?
What do you like best
about your job?
Last April, I purchased a 2014
Harley Sportster. I always wanted a
bike of my own. Since both my kids
are grown, no husband, and only
Oscar my dog to worry about - I
decided it was time for Shelly.
I love working with my customers,
whether it is for a small project or trying
to put together an upgrade for their
aircraft. Being able to prevent an aircraft
from being grounded always makes my
day. I've always been a people person
and a "helper" personality. q

I enjoy spending time with my
