maintenance, engineering design,
and parts support for business,
military and government aircraft.
Stay alert to opportunities, know
your market and your competitors,
and make decisions carefully.
"When I was in the U.S. Navy
working on the flight deck of an
aircraft carrier, a very popular adage
onboard was 'keep your head on a
swivel,'" Ochs said. "The physical
meaning was to remind people
in that dangerous environment to
always be keenly aware of their
surroundings. It has served me well
in many respects including my
career and business perspectives.

ahead. Look around before

Get creative
When stumped by a challenging
issue, get creative. "Never give in
or give up without exploring all
options," said Ochs, who received
AEA's Member of the Year Award
in 2010. "Look at the situation
from all angles. Be resourceful
and thoughtful in figuring out a
problem when the solution isn't
readily apparent. For technicians,
good troubleshooting is 90-percent
inspection."
