During his 30 years of attendance
at the AEA International Convention
& Trade Show, Dahler has witnessed
first-hand the many areas in which
the AEA has grown, educated and
nurtured the industry. Dahler enjoys
spending time with his wife of 29
years, Lori Anne, and their two
children, Brittany and Brandon.
Some of his favorite hobbies include
flying and biking, along with hunting
and farming at the family farm
outside of Memphis.

James Miller

Brazos Avionics
James Miller was born the first
of nine children March 29, 1951,

in a small Southern town about 25
miles southeast of Atlanta, Georgia.
His early childhood was spent in
Atlanta/Hampton with two siblings.
Life for Miller growing up in the
South as a young
African-American
was contentious at
best with many plots
and subplots. Miller
remembers life being
very different for
his parents, struggling to clothe,
put food on the table and send his
family to school. Miller's parents
continually encouraged him to
get an education so he would be
successful in life. Miller excelled
in math and science with a deep
appreciation for music. His early
life experiences would prove to

be the foundation for his later life
direction.
Miller attended Hampton
Rosenwald Elementary School.
Rosenwald was the formal name
applied to more than 5,000 schools,
shops and teachers' homes in the
U.S. that were built primarily
for the education of AfricanAmericans in the early 20th century.
The need arose from the chronic
underfunding of public education
for African-American children in
the South, who were required to
attend segregated schools. Julius
Rosenwald was an American
clothier who became part-owner
and president of Sears Roebuck and
Company. He also was the founder
of The Rosenwald Fund, through
which he contributed seed money
for many of the schools and other
philanthropic causes.
As a preteen and teenager, Miller
served multiple purposes in the role
of both a matriarch/patriarch for
his younger siblings. He worked
summers, after school, from an early
age by cutting neighbors' grass, being
a custodian for a local doctor and
pharmacy, to working in a textile mill.
At the young age of 13, Miller
entered high school with dreams
to be a microbiology research
scientist, physician, airline pilot or
president. Miller attended West Side
High School where he was very
active in the school band, playing
the trumpet and active in the
science and math clubs. In the fall
of 1968, Miller entered Tennessee
State University as the first in his
family to attend college, majoring
in microbiology/pre-med. Only at
TSU for two years, it proved to be
some of the most rewarding and
enjoyable times for a young man
away from home for the first time.
With the country at war and a low
lottery number, Miller took a leave
