Universal Avionics Systems Corp. and Rockwell Collins

UNIVERSAL AVIONICS SYSTEMS CORP. joined forces with fellow AEA member company ROCKWELL COLLINS to bring an affordable, integrated ADS-B
Out solution to business aircraft operators. The solution was designed to allow
operators to add the Rockwell Collins TDR-94(D) Mode S Transponder to their
Universal Avionics SBAS-Flight Management System installation to meet the
ADS-B Out mandate. In addition, operators are able to equip for controller-pilot
data link communications and localizer performance with vertical guidance.
Universal Avionics SBAS-FMS is an approved ARINC 743A position source, required
for ADS-B Out compliance. As the foundation of the ADS-B solution, it interfaces with
all ADS-B transponders including the commonly used Rockwell Collins TDR-94(D).
"The biggest value of this package is that operators receive an integrated SBASFMS," said CAREY MILLER, manager of business development for Universal
Avionics. "While providing ADS-B Out compliance, an important feature of our combined solution is that it also provides a path to future technologies and mandates
such as LPV and data link. Other solutions only address ADS-B Out."

According to the company,
the bubble window is a direct
replacement unit that was
developed to easily install to
the existing door without any
adjustment or modification.
The Crew Bubble Window
Installation is designed to
provide the pilot improved
visibility relative to the right
side of an aircraft without the
requirement to open windows
or doors, and is ideal for utility
and long-line operations.

Aspen Avionics
ASPEN AVIONICS recently introduced its integrated Evolution Angle of Attack indicator.
Aspen's patent-pending solution integrates AOA technology directly into its Evolution
primary flight and multifunction displays.
"The FAA is aggressively promoting the use of AOA-based systems to reduce general
aviation accidents caused by loss of control," said PERRI COYNE, director of marketing
operations. "We are offering a software-based derived angle of attack function that provides
real-time stall margin awareness without hardware, cabling or aircraft modifications. The aircraft modification consists of a simple software upgrade to the Aspen primary and multifunction flight displays and requires a short calibration flight as part of the return to service."
The company anticipates its Evolution AOA will be available in July 2015.
