W
hen all is said and done, 2015 is likely
to have been a really good year for the
Aircraft Electronics Association and the
avionics industry it serves. On the whole, its membership is
thriving, with new companies, products and services popping
up like summer thunderstorms, and its impact throughout
the aviation industry is growing. Attendance and participation at association events - particularly, the 58th annual AEA
International Convention & Trade Show - and in its training
programs is consistently strong. The business aviation industry, a major customer of AEA's members, is rebounding.
And the approaching 2020 deadline for automatic dependent
surveillance-broadcast equipment in the U.S. is driving both
expectation and innovation, with increasing sales in the forecast. All of this and more was on display in Dallas, Texas,
April 8-11.
In fact, April's event broke an association record, for highest numbers of attendees - 1,897 - which is more than 20
percent higher than last year's turnout. At least part of the
attraction? A sold-out exhibit floor, with more than 135 companies presenting their products and services to interested
and extremely qualified potential customers. The association's all-time record number of attendees represented more

throughout the exhibit hall, the
major addresses and events, the
90-plus hours of training, and even
the coffee breaks. Everywhere
you looked, people were shaking
hands, trading business cards,
demonstrating new products,
asking informed questions - in
short, they were doing business,
networking and smiling.
