the company's divisions devoted to different transportation modes and activities. During his tenure at Garmin,
he also was instrumental in the company being chosen as
AEA's Associate Member of the Year on three occasions:
1994; 2000; and 2011. In recognition of his long-term
service to the avionics industry, to his employers and to
the association, Kelley was the recipient of AEA's 2015
Lifetime Achievement Award.

THE PROGRAMS
Of course, visiting the 135-plus vendors on the exhibit
floor, congratulating AEA award winners and witnessing
33 companies introduce their new products and services
- see the article beginning on page 48 for all the details -
were just some of the activities for attendees at the 2015
AEA Convention. There also were a wide range of presentations, training sessions and other events.
For example, Ric Peri, AEA vice president of government and industry affairs, played host to his signature

early-morning AEA Regulatory Rise & Shine briefings
to update attendees on the newest developments from
aviation agencies around the world. A series of seminars
presented by leading manufacturers and subject-matter
experts also covered topics as diverse as understanding
aviation insurance, and the challenges and solutions for
avionics installations in rotorcraft.
Other seminar topics throughout the week included
basic and advanced information on modern accounting
and financial management concepts, and real-world project management, with a focus on navigating the world of
supplemental type certificates. Attendees also could learn
more about how a business can perfect the art of selling
to its customers. All of these programs offered credit
toward AEA's Avionics Training Excellence Award, the
FAA's IA renewal and to AMT awards. Even the FAA
was present to offer training, in ADS-B equipment installation and testing, and system compliance, including
ADS-B field approvals, equipage and implementation
updates.
Additional training and expertise was offered by avionics manufacturers themselves, with engineers and support personnel from name-brand companies providing
