1000 MFD, and a certified GPS. It does not require additional
hardware or any external aircraft modifications or sensors -
only a short calibration flight is necessary. Aspen set the unit's
retail price at $1,995, and anticipates its Evolution AoA will be
available in July 2015.
Aspen Avionics also announced its ATX100G single-band
ADS-B In/978 UAT ADS-B Out transceiver with built-in
WAAS GPS has been certified. The unit is designed to work
with existing aircraft equipment yet offer position-source
redundancy and meet the FAA's 2020 ADS-B equipage
mandate.

Astronics
Skip Feher of Astronics AeroSat, a wholly-owned subsidiary
of Astronics Corp., introduced his company's global broadband
connectivity solution for business aviation, FlightStream. Based
on the premise the user's real experience is what matters, not
some best-case numbers, Astronics' FlightStream offers customers a global, end-to-end connectivity solution for large business/VIP aircraft, according to the company. The FlightStream
package provides individually customizable broadband solutions and includes a Satcom antenna system, global satellite
connectivity service, and pre- and post-installation support for
dealers and end users. The company said its global network is
optimized for business and executive aircraft needs - not those
of the commercial airlines, which are much different - resulting
in a more consistent and robust user experience.
FliteStream is a turnkey solution using either one of
the company's F-Series fuselage-mounted packages or its
T-Series tail-mounted one, combined with satellite network
service. Typically, the F-series package would be installed on
transport-category aircraft, like a Boeing or Airbus, while the
T-series configurations are intended for large business jets like
those from Gulfstream, Bombardier or Dassault. The typical
FlightStream package includes a Satcom antenna, antenna
control and modem unit, a high-power transceiver, radome and

radome attachment. It handles everything from the energy coming from the satellite to the modem connection in the cabin.
Since a FlightStream package consists of hardware, certification assistance and worldwide 24/7 AOG product support,
Astronics AeroSat said its offering is a "one-stop solution ...
focused on customer convenience as well as connectivity speed
and consistency for the ultimate in system performance." A
FlightStream package also incorporates the company's patented
"lens horn" antenna technology, with a built-in upgrade path to
Ka band satellite networks, potentially eliminating broadband
obsolescence as new technologies are deployed. FliteStream
offers service plans featuring customer-definable options for
geographic regions and bandwidth requirements, helping to
ensure each operator's unique needs are met.

Avidyne Corp.
Tom Harper, director of marketing for Avidyne, brought
four announcements to the AEA Convention, most of them
focused on enhancements to the company's IFD540 and
IFD440 series of touchscreen FMS/GPS/NAV/COM navigators. For example, Avidyne's new pocket-size MK10
Mini Keyboard, a customized Bluetooth device, allows
pilots to wirelessly enter flight plans and waypoints into
the IFD540/440, execute "Direct TO" operations and zoom
the displayed map in and out, among other functions.
The MK10 keyboard is coming out at the same time
a new software release - Release 10.1 - is available in
new IFD540/440s and as an upgrade to in-service aircraft.
Release 10.1 enables existing Bluetooth hardware, and
allows new functionality like displaying ADS-B weather,
expanded checklists, rubber-banding of active flight plan
legs, and multiple-user customization of checklists, user
settings, user-defined waypoints, routes and more.
It's required to use Avidyne's new AXP322 1090 ES
transponder, a remote-mounted box incorporating ADS-B
Out and designed for use with an IFD540 or IFD440 in
aircraft with limited panel or pedestal space, like early
Cirrus models. The AXP322's compact design - it measures only 2.44-inch by 1.7-inch by 5.55-inch, and weighs
