Heather Wahl of Cutter Aviation

anything, my goal is to strengthen
the relationship between employee
and employer, so people will know
that the top aviation company to
work for is Cutter Aviation.

business and general aviation
industry. Its strength comes from
a combination of experience and
an eight-decade history serving the
industry with a diversity of services,
products and locations in support of
a wide range of customers.
Recently, Patricia Luebke spoke
with Heather Wahl to learn more
about her work at Cutter as well as
her life outside the office.

Back to the beginning, what
were you like growing up?
If you ask my mom, she would
describe me as a fiery redhead. I
would take risks and wasn't afraid of
anything. I was very rambunctious,
but very caring. I remember when
I was a child in Nebraska, I found
a baby mouse that was cold, as it
was in the winter season. I brought
it home and gave it an entire block
of cheese, and my mom freaked
out. I just wanted to make sure
the baby mouse was warm and
fed. She didn't think it was a good
idea. I fell into human resources
by accident. I am a people person,
and I want to build relationships. I
enjoy facilitating the human capital
interaction - what employees like
and what they don't like and how to
fix what is repairable.

What's your current
job at Cutter?
I am the director of human
resources for all seven of our
locations. I oversee all HR

about your job?

employees and making them

With...
resources is the glue between
employer and employee. We want
to make that relationship a positive
experience, for both Cutter and our
employees. I am a firm believer that
if a company has happy employees,
the company will succeed regardless
of the field.

Is this your first
position in the
aviation industry?

My industry background is
in health care, not aviation,
so the aviation industry
is definitely outside my
comfort zone. However,
my background in human
resources, along with my
infancy stage in aviation, has
allowed me to come to a
wonderful organization like
Cutter without having blinders
on. I've been here since
March 16.

How would you compare
aviation to the health care
industry?
I think the biggest difference is
that aviation, specifically Cutter,
is hospitality based, whereas as
healthcare is more of a necessity.
