rivaled what we get on today's highdefinition televisions and movie
screens - top notch and easy to read.
The software loaded quickly,
refreshed quickly and the Pilot
software provided an intuitive, easyto-grasp process for plugging in our
plan - in this case from Wichita to
Olathe. An airport or waypoint can be
selected for the flight-plan window by
tapping in the map icon or by typing
the designator on a keyboard on the
Garmin Pilot display.
Compared to my more familiar
purpose-made EFB, this process was
a little faster, somewhat easier and
more logical.
So far, so good. Iced tea done,
time to fly.

Flight planning in the aircraft:

Strapped in, engine warming back
up, the avionics booting, Koss woke
up her iPad right back at the flightplanning page used in the restaurant.
She coached me though a couple of
button pushes on the iPad to transfer
the flight plan to the GTN 750 -
which quickly let us know when the
transfer ended before asking us to
acknowledge we indeed wanted to
load that plan.
The process started so easily and
ended as quickly by acknowledging
that it was OK to load it into the
GTN 750.
No more button pushing or knob
twisting required.
It happened faster than the

delivery of most IFR clearances and
worked as easily as if we were using
the GTN 750's touchscreen flightplanning screen.
With this tool, flight planning
occurs wherever you decide to fire
up the tablet or smartphone. And
should you want to change the plan?
You can rubber-band a new route
or new waypoint into the existing
plan on the portable device, weigh
whether it's the change you want to
make, and make the plan active in
the navigator - all with a minimum
of input effort.
That capability can be particularly
useful for the solo pilot who just
