Jeppesen and Avidyne add IFD400 avionics to single
aircraft navigation data and charts bundle service
Jeppesen and Avidyne introduced new Jeppesen
Services Suite bundled data packages for the IFD440
FMS/GPS/NAV/COM, featuring Jeppesen's navigation
information and charting data. The new IFD440 data
bundle service adds to the previously developed bundle
for IFD540 FMS/GPS/NAV/COM and EX-S series multifunction display avionics within a single aircraft.
The new IFD440 bundle services allow general aviation pilots to manage a single subscription to update
multiple Avidyne avionics systems within their aircraft.
In total, the Avidyne systems offered in the bundle also
include the IFD540 and E-S series MFDs (EX500, EX600
& EX5000/C). The bundled, single aircraft pricing structure data package provides customers with a significant
pricing discount, when compared to purchasing data subscriptions individually.
L-3's Lynx NGT-9000 receives AML STC
L-3 Aviation Products announced that its Lynx NGT9000 MultiLink Surveillance System models are now
included in the approved model list supplemental type
certificate for a large number of aircraft. With STC
SA02444AK, the Lynx NGT-9000 joins the Lynx NGT2000/2500 as a certified solution that enables general aviation aircraft to comply with the FAA's mandate to equip
with ADS-B capability. L-3 received technical standard
order authorization from the FAA for the Lynx NGT-9000
earlier this year.
"Working in cooperation with ADS-B Technologies,
we've now secured AML STC for all Lynx models," said
Larry Riddle, L-3 Aviation Products' vice president of
marketing and sales for business, regional and general
aviation. "Lynx installations are greatly simplified with
the AML STC, and the scope of the approved model list
includes most general aviation aircraft targeted for ADS-B
equipage."
The Lynx NGT-9000 is the world's first FAA-certified
touchscreen, dual-mode 1090 and 978 MHz Mode S
Extended Squitter transponder that is capable of displaying
traffic and weather, and improves pilot situational awareness using built-in ADS-B In capability. Lynx models
include the NGT-1000, -2000, -2500, -9000 and -9000R.
"Alaskan pilots and the Anchorage Aircraft Certification
Office pioneered the development of ADS-B for general
aviation through the Capstone Program in the early 2000s,"
added Skip Nelson, president of ADS-B Technologies.
"Our more than 15 years of experience with ADS-B use
and installation gave us key insights that helped streamline
the STC project with L-3."

Safe Flight SCc Angle of Attack system is certified
Safe Flight Instrument Corp., based in White Plains, New
York, announced the SCc - an Angle of Attack-based system - has been certified by the FAA and is currently available for certificated aircraft in the general aviation market.

In addition to low airspeed awareness, the SCc
provides the pilot with AOAbased guidance for a variety of
high-lift operational conditions such as normal and shortfield takeoff, climb, wind-adjusted AOA cruise speed for
maximum range and maximum endurance.
Trig Avionics adds GTN compatibility
Trig Avionics introduced an expansion of its FAA STC
program for the TT31 transponder.
According to Trig CEO Andy Davis, "I am pleased to
share that our FAA ADS-B STC program now includes
all Garmin GTN navigators. We understand that pilots
want a low cost and simple upgrade path to ADS-B, and
the TT31 fully meets this brief. Aircraft owners can maximize the value of a TT31 by integrating it with a GTN. A
Trig solution is quicker to fit saving hundreds of dollars
in installation costs with no compromise in performance
or features."
Trig noted that the latest TT31 software allows the
transponder to be configured for ADS-B Out, using the
original KT76A or KT78A tray. With no tray change, no
change of antenna and the simple integration of a GNS or
GTN series WAAS GPS, this demonstrates how practical
an ADS-B install can be.
Davis added, "We prove that many KT76A and
KT78A customers can benefit from a stress-free install,
avoiding additional antennas or physical changes to
the panel. Our free STC program via our STC partner,
Peregrine of Denver, makes this process even more
straightforward." q
