age evolved to Gulfstream standards out of Honeywell's Primus
Epic integrated avionics package.
The ESI-500, unveiled in September 2015, follows a long line
of other innovations that recently emerged from L-3.

A BUSY YEAR

Along those same lines, L-3 previously introduced its new
Lynx line of transponder products designed to bring ADS-B
solutions to general aviation.
Lynx is a single-box solution with an embedded GPS-WAAS,
eliminating the complexity and cost of multiple components.
L-3's top-of-the-line Lynx NGT-9000 is an ADS-B In/Out transponder that also sports a touch-screen display of traffic, weather,
airport data and restricted airspace.
The NGT-9000's feature set goes well beyond ADS-B
compliance, and operators and dealers are taking notice. L-3,
through its ACSS joint venture with Thales, offers a set of
ADS-B Out transponders for the higher end of the market that
are DO-260B compliant and already installed on hundreds of
aircraft.
The NXT-800/NXT-600 are a new generation of transponders

for air transport, regional, corporate and military transport aircraft. ACSS also provides ADS-B In solutions with SafeRoute, a
suite of certified ADS-B In capabilities that help operators reduce
flight times and fuel consumption, while improving situational
awareness.

According to company spokesman Steve Henden, L-3 plans
to focus on its broad line of solutions that meet the upcoming
ADS-B mandate.
They're also recommending that all operators, from GA pilots
to corporate flight departments and airlines, get their plans in
place to upgrade their aircraft ahead of the mandate.
With many business-turbine aircraft still missing an ADSB solution, and pages seeming to fly off the calendar, L-3
should find a ready market for more ADS-B solutions - and
with glass cockpits the dominant instrument configuration for
factory-built, retrofit, light sport and experimental panels, the
market for matching standby instruments will likely continue
to grow, adding to the potential market for L-3's standby
instrument solutions. q
