One of the things you might like about the avionics
business is that no two installations are the same. That
would make life too easy for the installers.
So before shops quote any IFD swap, be sure you
know exactly what the customer has in his airplane
and what does and does not integrate with the IFD
products.
"Once it's installed, system configuration is nearly
identical to the old units," Harper said. "In fact, in
some cases, the dealer will spend more time doing the
paperwork than doing the actual installation. This will
allow dealers to dramatically improve their profit per
hour. That's an interesting metric for most shops."
