remote areas, soaring and simple transportation. I get a kick out of it all."
In addition to holding an airframe and
powerplant certificate with inspection
authorization, Dowling is a private pilot,
too, having logged more than 1,000 flight
hours. Dowling began his aviation career while serving in
the U.S. Army as helicopter crew chief. After leaving the
military, he served as a helicopter external load mechanic
for the logging industry, before coming to OK3 AIR.
OK3 AIR's location is not far from Park City, Utah,
Sundance Resort and three popular ski resorts, making it a
favorite stop for customers.
"It's common for our customers to schedule aircraft
maintenance so that they can get out to ski for a day or
two," Dowling said.
During the Sundance Film Festival, the nearly two-week
independent film festival in January in Park City, it's common for OK3 AIR to tie down some 30 to 40 jets on the
ramp overnight, according to AbuHaidar, and see fuel sales
jump by 25 percent for the month.
Along with a busy skiing and snowboarding season,
summers are gaining traction, too, for OK3 AIR as tourists
come to the area for golfing, mountain biking and trout
fishing.
"During the height of ski season, our ramp is packed
with ultra-long-range jets and other large aircraft," AbuHaidar said. "Our peak summer days are almost as busy as
our best winter days." q
