It makes me appreciate how far
the industry has advanced since
Loran/GPS.
When you're not working,
what do you enjoy doing?
I have a wonderful and
supportive wife and daughter.
I enjoy family activities such as
skiing, hiking, biking, running,
watching movies, doing home
improvement projects, and just
hanging out with my family.

What advice do you have for
young people wanting to work in
avionics or aviation?
Get involved now. Aviation
and avionics are exciting, fun
and rewarding careers. Quality
talent is in high demand. Find an
organization that is a good fit for
your personal and professional
goals, and develop and grow with
that organization. If you happen
to be in Colorado or interested in
Colorado, give me a call.
What do you like most
about the AEA?
The training events, the
regulatory updates, and the

professional networking
opportunities. I appreciate the
liaison work done with the FAA
on behalf of our industry. That is
very important.
Why did you want to serve on
the AEA board of directors?
Part of the motivation was to
give back to the organization. I
have benefited greatly from my
membership in the organization.
Another part was that I have
spent more than half my
career in other industries, so I
think I can bring that outside
perspective to the board to
complement the views and
opinions of industry veterans.
Is there anything specific
you hope to accomplish as
a board member?
I would like to see the spirit of
modernization and streamlining,
the Part 23 rewrite, for example,
extended to some of our more
basic tasks. Perhaps I can
help the AEA take more of a
leadership role in this regard.
For example, IACRA (Integrated
Airman Certification and Rating
Application) is a wonderful
tool for managing airman
certifications. It might not be
that much of a stretch to have
a similar tool for managing
aircraft maintenance and
alterations. The electronic 337 is
a good start, but I think so much
more could be done in a way
to benefit the FAA, the repair
stations, the manufacturers,
and most importantly, our
customers. q
