systems during each of the event's
first five days. Although the company
has had similar promotions in the
past, Moffitt said, "This is the first
time we've done a serious number
of units." From July 25 until July
29, lucky pilots from Wisconsin,
California, Illinois and Nevada won
systems.
Moffitt said the promotion wasn't
the only factor increasing traffic at
the NavWorx booth. The fact that the
FAA is offering a $500 ADS-B Out
rebate this fall increased traffic to
every booth offering ADS-B solutions.
Moffitt noted that AirVenture was well
attended this year and that "opening
day had the most car traffic in 10
years."
NavWorx offers three ADS-B
solutions: the ADS600-B UAT for
certified aircraft, the ADS600-EXP for
experimental aircraft, and the ADS600
receiver, also for certified aircraft.
The ADS600-B is a remote-mounted
UAT with multiple interfaces allowing
the ADS600-B to support a variety of
panel-mounted EFIS/MFDs and portable
displays. Standard features include
an internal compliant WAAS GPS,
RS232 channel for an external altitude
encoder, RS232 and RS422 interfaces
for a variety of display devices, and
a secure slide-lock attachment for the
DB37 system connector. The unit has
an extensive approved model list, and
complies with the ADS-B Final Rule
Technical Amendment dated Feb. 9,
2015, affecting 14 CFR 91.225 (b)
(1)(ii) that permits ADS-B Out in the
national airspace with devices that meet
the performance requirements of TSOC154c.
The unit is small, measuring 6.1
inches wide by 5.5 inches deep, and
only 2.3 inches tall. The weight is less
than 2 pounds.
Interestingly, NavWorx UAT
technology will allow for privacy,
according to the company. Normally,

ADS-B devices transmit the aircraft's
ICAO number, a unique code that is
assigned by the FAA to each aircraft.
When flying VFR, however, there is no
requirement to let the FAA know this
information. The ADS600-EXP has an
AutoStealth mode, which randomizes

the ICAO whenever the squawk code is
set to 1200. In addition, the N-number
of the aircraft configured is changed to
"No," an unassigned N-number.
NavWorx also offers a product that
