L-3 AVIATION PRODUCTS and
ATP Flight School announced that
L-3's Lynx NGT-9000 has been
selected as the ADS-B solution for
100 of the school's 250-plus training
aircraft, with the option for additional
units as the fleet expands. Deliveries
of the Lynx units will continue
through the end of 2016, ahead of
the 2020 ADS-B mandate.
"L-3 is pleased to partner with
ATP, a national flight school, and
we are extremely excited that
after extensive evaluation of the
ADS-B solutions available in the
marketplace, ATP selected L-3's
Lynx system as the best choice,"
said LARRY RIDDLE, L-3 Aviation
Products' vice president of marketing
and sales for general aviation.
According to the company, the
ATP fleet consists of Piper and
Cessna twin- and single-engine
aircraft, which will be equipped with
the Lynx NGT-9000 plus options,
including L-3's ADS-B Traffic
Advisory System with aural alerting
and its Class B embedded Terrain
Awareness Warning System. The
installation of the NGT-9000 in ATP's
fleet will provide students in the
flight school with the latest in ADS-B
technology - enhancing safety and
increasing situational awareness
as they train for professional airline
pilot careers.

Universal Avionics Systems Corp.
UNIVERSAL AVIONICS SYSTEMS CORP. said that after a joint evaluation process, the Turkish Aerospace Industries Hürkuş tandem two-seat
trainer has completed all flight testing and obtained type certificate from the
Turkish Directorate General of Civil Aviation with its validation certificate
from the European Aviation Safety Agency. Each flight deck includes two
Universal Avionics Radio Control Units and two EFI-890R Advanced Flight
Displays to be used as primary flight displays.
"This is an exciting joint venture that outlines not only the diversity of
Universal's EFI-890R product line, but also TAI's expertise in integrated
aerospace systems and multi-mission platforms," said ROBERT CLARE,
director of sales for Universal Avionics.
According to the company, the primary and basic trainer aircraft was
designed and manufactured by TAI and is a low-wing and single-engine
turboprop aircraft. The aircraft is primarily being built to meet the requirements of the Turkish Air Force Command. It will be used to execute basic
pilot training, instrument flying, navigation training, and weapons and formation training missions. In addition, the TAI Hürkuş will be exported as a
civilian and military flight trainer aircraft.
