In December 2015, Custom
Avionics launched a new program to
guarantee ADS-B installations before
the Federal Aviation Administration's
Jan. 1, 2020, equipage deadline. The
Early Register program targets small
and mid-size aircraft owners and is
designed to ensure owners can meet
the 2020 deadline.
"With over 194,000 aircraft
requiring modification, it is
important to secure your place now
since demand will only increase

as the deadline approaches," said
Christopher Malter, CMO of Custom
Avionics. "We will assign you a
position, based on your schedule,
and guarantee you that spot for
installation. And if your needs or
desires change, we can accelerate
your installation, accordingly."
Additionally, if owners register
now, the program locks-in the price
protecting them from higher costs as
the deadline gets closer. The Early
Register program allows aircraft
owners to preorder equipment and
pay for the equipment over time
versus a lump sum. In essence, it is
similar to a layaway program.
The Early Register program is just
one best practice that is working well for
both Custom Avionics and its customers.

"There are a lot of people who
have a tendency to put everything
off, because they think things are
going to change," Williams said.
"We asked ourselves how we could
help overcome that problem and
prevent our customers from getting
into a bind. As the ADS-B deadline
approaches, space may be a problem.
This program will help both the
marketplace and the people."
