ollowing last month's
AEA membership webinar
on the Federal Aviation
Administration Form 8130-3, I was
driving home from the office in
moderate traffic. As I was making the
transition from the Washington, D.C.,
beltway onto Interstate 95, a Toyota
Corolla was riding my bumper. This
is a high-speed two-lane transition,
and on this particular day, it had
traffic in both lanes. The driver was
a bit agitated as indicated by his
single-finger wave. Apparently, he
wanted to increase his speed, and I
was blocking his path.
I drive a mid-sized truck with a
slightly elevated suspension system.
All the driver could see was my truck.
He assumed that I was impeding his
desired speed. What he couldn't see,
and therefore didn't realize, was that
I also was in traffic and had my speed
adjusted from the line of traffic in
front of me. I was not the impediment
he assumed, as I, too, was affected by
our environment.

assumptions because we can't see
the environment around us? More

they understand what is required,

we cannot fully appreciate the intent
of a change, much less ensure it is
properly implemented.
This is where the association
comes into play for AEA member
companies. The AEA is here as your
eyes and ears in the aviation capitals
around the world.
From a regulatory perspective,
the AEA Convention week begins
