"Since we introduced our first FMS in 1982, we've grown
our position to include a wide array of avionics products and
systems," stated Robert Clare, Universal's director of sales.
"Today, we have our extensive FMS product line, flat-panel
LCD displays, CVRs, radio control units, TAWS, synthetic
vision, air-to-ground communications systems and others.
"We're proud that Universal Avionics units are flying aboard
a growing array of private, business, regional airline, government and special-missions aircraft and helicopters around the
world. Right now, Universal has approvals and installations on
more than 160 different types of aircraft and helicopters."

Once you look at it, it's not just the number of aircraft
approved to fly with Universal Avionics that is most interesting; it's the diversity. Yes, you can find Universal units on
Gulfstreams, Citations, Falcons and the like. There's even
approvals for Airbus, Boeing, de Havilland, Fokker, Lockheed and McConnell Douglas air
transport category aircraft.
But perhaps what best speaks
to Universal's ability to fulfill the
most unique requirements are
the approvals for the Boeing T-43, Northrop T-38, Grumman
Albatross, and the world's only two airworthy Martin WB57s used in NASA's High Altitude Research Program.
"Over the years, we've developed a diverse set of products
that have found their way into a widening variety of aircraft
types," Clare said. "We've done that by effectively filling a
unique need in each situation."
Clare attributes much of Universal's success to the
fact that the company started out as a retrofit company,
and during the past 35 years has developed the in-house
